EP16S 16-Channel Digital Signal Processor – Technical Overview

The EP16S is a multi-channel digital audio signal processor optimized for advanced automotive acoustic systems. The architecture implements 16 discrete DSP-controlled output channels with independent filtering, equalization, and time-domain management, enabling precise multi-driver system integration.

Power Management

  • Operating Input Voltage: 7.5–16 VDC

  • Standby Current: <0.5 mA

  • Quiescent Current: 0.44 A

  • Remote Output: 12 VDC (380 mA sink capacity)

  • Recommended External Fuse Protection: 0.9 A
The supply design ensures stable low-noise operation with controlled turn-on/turn-off sequencing and external amplifier triggering via REM output.

Input Topology

  • Analog High-Level Inputs: 16 channels, max 18 Vrms, input impedance 4.7 Ω

  • Analog Low-Level Inputs (AUX): 2 channels, 2.0 Vrms, input impedance 20 kΩ

  • Digital Inputs: 1 × Optical (96 kHz/24-bit), 1 × Coaxial

  • Bluetooth Interfaces:

    • Integrated Bluetooth 5.1 (SBC/AAC support)

    • External Bluetooth 5.0 (AAC, APTX-L, APTX-LL, APTX-HD, MP3, SBC)

This dual-path input stage allows simultaneous accommodation of OEM high-voltage signals and aftermarket low-level sources, with support for high-resolution PCM digital transport.

Output Architecture

  • Channels: 16 discrete low-level outputs

  • Output Voltage: 5 Vrms @ 14.4 V, 1 kHz, 1% THD

  • Frequency Response: 20 Hz – 40 kHz (±3 dB)

  • THD: 0.01% @ 1 kHz, 1 Vrms

  • SNR (A-weighted, THD=1%): >95 dB

  • Channel Separation: ≥105 dB @ 1 kHz

Each output channel operates under independent DSP control with deterministic routing, processing, and gain calibration.

The EP16S is positioned as a signal-domain control hub within distributed amplifier-loudspeaker topologies, providing deterministic crossover alignment, phase coherence correction, and fine-resolution amplitude shaping. The processing architecture allows for precise system calibration across both time and frequency domains, enabling accurate reproduction in multi-driver, multi-amplifier automotive installations.
